A product design leader at the forefront of spatial computing and artificial intelligence.
A product designer for 21 years

Since 2003 I’ve been designing emerging platforms for Microsoft, Magic Leap, Samsung, and Meta; while simultaneously creating the tools to make it possible. I’ve worked with 20 companies ranging from startups and non-profits to corporations. I’ve acted as a senior individual contributor and lead for most of my career, recently managing a small design team for ShapesXR.
25 Patents

I average 1.2 patents per year in my career. They are typically novel human-computer interactions on platforms ranging from robotic surgery to holographic calling. You can see the last six below and the full list of the patents I know about on LinkedIn.

Guiding emerging technology
toward preferable outcomes.
Over the years I have designed platforms, design tools, and applications on these technologies. Like Harry Seldon from the Foundation series, I try to find the optimum outcome for the technologies and steer toward them. Here is a list of my expertise with these technologies.
Cultivating Self-Reliant Teams

I try to run my teams with these five goals:
1. Individual autonomy with support
2. Lean into your strengths
3. Learn through apprenticeship
4. Clear objectives & decision-making
5. Inclusive communication
Teaching along the way
I have a passion for teaching in the community I am a part of. Sometimes that looks like creating an after-school program at my local elementary, teaching team members new design practices, lecturing at the University of Washington, or teaching modules at design boot camps. I love sharing my passion for design and creativity.
